Dr. Paul Garcia is a nationally recognized neurologist in the treatment of epilepsy and director of Clinical Epilepsy Services at UCSF Medical Center. His expertise covers a wide range of conditions and therapies, with a particular interest in treating epilepsy patients after surgery, advances in diagnosis and treatment of frontal lobe epilepsy and epilepsy in patients with brain tumors. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and on the board of directors of the Western EEG Society.

Garcia earned an undergraduate degree with high honors at the University of California, Davis in physiology and a medical degree at UCSF, where he also completed residency and subspecialty training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. He joined the staff of UCSF Medical Center in 1991 and is a professor of neurology. Garcia has served as an ad hoc reviewer for several professional publications, including the Annals of Neurology and the Journal of Neurology, and has published numerous research articles.

    I have been with Dr.Garcia for many years, and there's a reason for that: he is an extremely knowledgeable, caring physician who listens and really understands the patient's perspective. Not only is he a good physician, but he also has the right skills to include the patient in decision making. He is a 6 out of 5!!!

    Dr Garc?a has great bed side manner but beyond that he truly cares about his patients and wants to put a plan together to prevent seizures and considers all aspects of even the trickiest situations (in my case). I have seen him for over 10 years and I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me every time I see him

    We put off discussion of possible changes in medication until after I return from a trip o/s, to deal with family issues but also set up possibilities of dealing with any problems if they occur while I am out of the country.
